LUCIE BENNETT | New Neon Edition Launch
June 19th 2015
‘Marianne In Lights’ is our new neon edition by Lucie Bennett. Making its debut at Art Hamptons 2-5th July 2015, where we’ll be showing a selection of Eyestorm works including some original paintings by Lucie, Marianne in Lights is the second neon in the series, and follows the pink ‘Romy In Lights’ earlier this year. Angie talks more about the work below.

When we released Lucie Bennett’s Romy In Lights back in January, we were all very excited about the impressive new medium Lucie had chosen to present her simple line drawings of women. And when we saw the piece we were even more impressed. Its first showing with Eyestorm was at AAF Battersea in March, where it sold immediately, and this was shortly followed by an inclusion at AAF in New York a few weeks later, again selling more than once over the four days it was being exhibited. The response towards it from fair-goers was a great one, with hardly anyone passing by without taking a closer look.

Today we’re presenting the second neon in the series, Marianne in Lights. In stunning electric blue light, she’s just as impressive as her sister as she takes an equally sassy pose, hair up, her eyes hidden behind her fringe.

These works have been carefully made to match Lucie’s images exactly with neon bulbs mounted in Perspex. And the size is an impressive one; at 110 x 75 cm both pieces have so far proven to appeal to both Lucie Bennett fans and those who love statement pieces.

Marianne in Lights is an edition of just 5 and is available to buy online for $6895.00. See the piece on more detail here.

A keen spirit of excitement, adventure and a bright future, Jacky Tsai sets a stage of courteous matchmaking between graceful apsaras and decisive superheroes. For twenty years Tsai has time and time again presented works that are powerful and rich in symbolism; a vision that in Fly Me to the Moon goes beyond characters seeking to escape a white lotus tree, enticed by the luminous void in precious gold, refined palladium and enchanting rose-gold. Created as three screenprinted editions, the series exemplifies Tsai’s visual exchange between two cultures.

A woman neatly adjusting her pink knickers and one wearing nothing but a pair of rose-coloured shoes. The girls circling Lucie Bennett’s artistic entourage stepped onto the scene twenty years ago as young, confident and empowered debutantes. Over time, Bennett has allowed her subjects to evolve and become more sophisticated in both expression and style, never abandoning their youthful and graceful appearance as if untouched by the years that have passed. The artist’s first screenprinted editions from 2005, such as Pink Knickers, Rose-coloured Shoes, Airforce Blue and the ‘Felt Tip Girls’, are five print editions that epitomise part of Bennett’s early practice.
